How long does permitting take?
Engineering & Permitting Services Timeline

Blue Skye Screening wants to ensure all our clients have a reasonable expectation for the timeline of their engineering and permitting services.

Engineering - This is the initial step. Your custom project will be engineered to Florida codes. This process usually takes 3-5 business days. Any revisions during this time will be an additional 3 business days.

Permitting – This is the second step. Once your engineering is completed, it will be sent to obtain a building permit. This is the permitting process. All counties have different timelines within their jurisdiction. These timelines can be from 7 business days up to 30 business days, depending on the workload your county is sustaining.

Blue Skye Screening has no control over these timelines. Once your permit is submitted a timeline is given by the county and a target date is in place. Blue Skye will update our clients on any approvals relayed to us during this time.

How long will my enclosure last?

Your screen enclosure should last about 20 years and in many cases longer with regular maintenance and replacing the screens when necessary.

Once permitting is complete, how long will it take for installation?

The actual erecting of the patio/screen enclosure and screening may take from 3-7 days depending on the design as well as size. We average is 3-5 days.

Do I need a permit to build a screen enclosure?

Yes. All Florida counties require permitting for any screen enclosure or screen room. This ensures all building codes are met. You, as the homeowner, are opening yourself up to liability with the local building departments for any work done without proper permitting. Not obtaining the required permit(s) could prove very costly if the work was installed incorrectly or the building department requires it to be taken down and reconstructed.

What type of products do you use on your enclosures?

For maximum strength we use the industries best aluminum alloy. This allows for larger spans with stronger beams with better site lines. Phifer screen is used on all our enclosures and patios
